The Knoxville City Council approved the second reading and waived the third reading, adopting an Ordinance Adopting Provisions Pertaining to Major Contributing Industry Surcharge at the meeting Monday night. The ordinance sets up a fine schedule for industries that violate their pre-treatment agreements with the city. The first violation will result in a warning with increasing fines for each subsequent violation. All companies will have a clean slate as of January 1st.
