A Knoxville man has been charged with 2nd degree motor vehicle theft. James J. Fitch, age 40 of Knoxville, allegedly stole a 2004 Grand Am at approximately 4:40 am Thursday from the Knoxville 66 while the car was running and was apprehended by the Warren’s County Sheriff’s Department after leading them on a high speed chase, that led the department to use spike strips to stop the vehicle. After the car stopped, Fitch then tried to flee on foot before being captured. He is currently under the custody of the Des Moines VA Medical Center for unknown injuries.
