The Pella boys basketball team ran out to a sizeable lead in the first half and kept South Tama well behind all game, as the Little Dutch routed the overmatched Trojans 78-37 last night. After the game, Pella Head Coach Mark Core said the team did a great job of spreading around their shots.

“We were pretty balanced. We had two guys in double figures, we had 13 guys that scored, and we spread it out as far as the two-point and three-point field goals,” said Core. “We had a lot of free throw attempts – we didn’t convert them at quite the rate that we’d have like to see, in fact the rate that we really need to shoot at – but as far as the distribution of points between players, between field goals and free throws, you can’t complain about what we did tonight.”

Nathan Buchheit and Deckar Lynch each scored 14 points to lead the Little Dutch in scoring, and Josh Pringle corralled a team-high 7 rebounds. The lopsided win moves Pella to 3-1 this season, as they prepare for a challenging contest at Grinnell on Tuesday.
