The One to Count On...

Pella Boys Playing Well, but Coach Sees Areas for Improvement

The Pella boys basketball team is still trying to get caught up to speed in the early part of the season, but have still been able to come out and do a lot of things well and are off to a 2-1 start. Little Dutch Head Coach Mark Core says one of the things he’d like to see the team improve upon is moving the ball around on offense.

“We need to swing the ball better offensively. We need to get some touches,” says Core. I think too often we fail to recognize when it’s a fast break where we want to shoot early, versus when it’s a motion situation where it’s five-on-five and we need to break the defense down.”

On Saturday, Pella dropped a tight contest to Mount Pleasant 63-61. The Little Dutch are now off until Friday when they host South Tama.
