After picking up another lopsided win on Saturday against Mount Pleasant, the Pella girls basketball team is showing that their post players are a force to be reckoned with. Between the team’s starters and first substitutions off the bench, the Lady Dutch had four interior players score in double figures in the 72-36 victory. Head Coach Jerod Garland says what makes his tallest players even more dangerous is their ability to handle the basketball away from the basket.

“A lot of teams will have a six-foot [tall] girl, but you can’t trust them to catch the ball 20 feet from the basket and take a couple of dribbles, and we have girls that can do that,” says Garland. “They can catch it in a fast break and still take two dribbles and finish the play.”

Pella is hoping that can play into their advantage again, when they host South Tama later this week on Friday night.
