The Pella wrestlers opened their season at the Dallas Center Grimes tournament Saturday and finished ninth in the ten team tournament. 189 pounder AJ Arendahl was the highest finisher for Pella at runner up, Brett Smith at 135 and Lane Whitaker at 160 each finished third. Pella coach Joe Burch said he was happy overall with their effort, and they learned a lot about their team and found several things they need to put more focus on to get better. Pella wrestles again Thursday against LHC rival Knoxville and Burch says they’re always excited to wrestle Knoxville and will go to work this week trying to improve their weaknesses so they can be competitive and hopefully get a win Thursday.
