The Central College men’s basketball team is off to a solid 8-2 start for the 2009 portion of their schedule, and a large reason for that success has been the consistent play from a pair of senior leaders. Guard Miguel Ley – who led the Iowa Conference in scoring last season – is averaging a team high 18.6 points per game; along with 4.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.0 steals per contest. Ley is currently the third-leading scorer overall in the Iowa Conference, but teammate Loren Liming is right behind in fourth, averaging 18.3 points per game. Liming leads Central in rebounding with 8.3 boards per game. The Dutch will play in a non-conference tournament in California this week, starting with a first-ever meeting with Pennsylvania’s Westminster College on Tuesday. Central hasn’t played a game since a 91-68 beatdown of Crown College on December 12th.
