A 25-year-old teacher and coach in the Knoxville School District was charged with two new counts of sexual exploitation Wednesday afternoon. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office confirms that Justin Mikels was booked into the jail. Last month, Mikels was charged with sexual exploitation by a school employee, and was suspended pending an investigation on that charge. Mikels taught at the district’s GOAL alternative high school and helped coach football and baseball.
“These new charges are the result of the continued cooperation and investigation of the police department and the school district,” Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack told KNIA/KRLS News Wednesday.
