A one vehicle rollover on Highway T15 last night at approximately 10:15 PM sent three to the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics for the treatment of injuries. The accident happened immediately north of the railroad bridge on T15 in Flagler, and T15 was closed for over an hour as crews from Knoxville Fire and Rescue, the Knoxville Rural Fire Department, the Marion County Sheriff’s Department and the Iowa State Patrol worked to control the scene and extract those injured from the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle apparently lost control on the icy roadway and the vehicle rolled down a steep embankment towards the railroad tracks.  The Marion County Sheriff’s office reports that Sherry May Laird of Chariton was driving a 2000 Buick Century southbound on T-15 when she lost control and entered the east ditch, rolling at least once.  Passengers in the vehicle were identified as James Austin Stewart of Russell, and Bertha Mae Spurgeon of Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. Laird was charged with failure to prove security against liability.  Laird and Stewart were treated and released, and Spurgeon was admitted for observation.   The accident remains under investigation, and KNIA KRLS will bring you more information as soon as it becomes official.
