The current temperatures mean that piles of snow likely won’t be going away any time soon, and the Pella Fire Department is asking for a little help from the community if those snow piles continue to grow. Pella Fire Chief Doug Van Gorkom asks that residents volunteer to adopt a fire hydrant near their homes to keep clear of snow and ice in case of emergencies. A similar program is being put in place by the Knoxville Fire Department, with more information available in the near future.
