A cold weather snap has sub-zero temperatures in the forecast through the weekend, and with extreme cold comes the risk of hypothermia for those who venture outdoors. Dr. Tim Dykstra, emergency department physician at Pella Regional Health Center, says in severe cold, hypothermia can set in in a matter of minutes. Dr. Dykstra says shivering, difficulty walking and moving body parts, along with troubles thinking clearly are all signs of hypothermia.
