The Pella Fire Department welcomed a new member to the Rural Fire Department crew last week – a “quick attack” brush fighter truck. Fire Department Captain Randy Bogaard says the new truck features more water-carrying capabilities than previous brush fighters, along with multiple lines for fighting fires, among other features. Weis Fire Safety and Equipment of Salina, Kansas assembled the new truck on a chassis purchased from Ulrich Motors of Pella. The total cost of the new truck for the Pella Rural Fire Department was approximately $110,000.
