The Pella boys basketball team will host a weekend game today, as local foe PCM comes to visit the Dutch. Pella Head Coach Mark Core says PCM’s athleticism presents several challenges for his team, particularly in defending the Mustang’s 6’4” sophomore Scott Bruxvoort.

“That’s a major concern for us. There’s not anybody on our team that can match up with that, as far as once he gets the ball in his hands, so we’re just going to have to limit his touches,” says Core. “Several things will have to fall into place, it’s not just the guy that’s playing on him. The guy covering the passer, [and] the back side support is going to have to be there, so keeping the ball out of his [Bruxvoort’s] hands is going to be crucial.”

Bruxvoort leads PCM in scoring at 16 points per game. The Dutch are coming off of a 65-38 win over Knoxville on Tuesday night, while the Mustangs will try and bounce back from a one-point loss to Jefferson Scranton. Pella is 6-1 overall on the season; while PCM is 7-2.
