The Pella boys have been off since their road win at Oskaloosa last Tuesday but one good thing about the break is leading scorer Nathan Buchheit, after missing their last two games has been able to get healthy as they head to South Tama tonight. Buchheit missed the ADM and Oskaloosa games with an injury he suffered in the first half of a game with Newton but Coach Mark Core says he has been practicing and should be ready for some game minutes tonight. Core says he was very pleased with how other players stepped up during Buchheit’s absence and Pella didn’t seem to miss a beat with two wins over quality teams. As far as South Tama goes, Core says even though their record may not show it they do have some talent on their team and are capable of doing good things:

“They’ve got a young and very energetic new coach, they’ve got the players and I think it’s just a matter of time before they start to gel and I have no doubt that they will, I just don’t want Pella to be the team that finds out how good South Tama is capable of being said Core. Our guys will have to realize that South Tama does have good players despite their record and I certainly expect them to be tougher at their place than they were at our place back in December”

Pella hammered South Tama in their first meeting at Pella in December 78-37. Pella is 10-2 on the season and 8-1 in the LHC while South Tama comes in 1-12 overall and 0-9 in LHC play. You can hear both games live tonight on 92.1 FM KRLS and kniakrls, com with Jamie Brockman and Randy Sikkema starting with the pre game at 6pm tonight. The girls tip off at 6:15pm followed by the boys.
