Kyle Nikkel recorded 21 points and 17 rebounds to lead all players as the Pella Christian boys topped Grinnell 60-50 last night in Little Hawkeye Conference action.
The Eagles held the Tigers to just 17 points in the first half, but the pace increased for both sides in the second half, as Grinnell stayed close and challenged for the lead. Pella Christian Head Coach Larry Hessing said he was pleased with the team’s defensive effort as a whole.
Pella Christian’s Jon Holwerda and Chase Carlson also had strong nights offensively, scoring 13 and 11 points, respectively. With the win, Pella Christian is now 7-1 overall, going into Friday’s meeting with Norwalk.
