For the Pella families adopting children that are still in Haiti, it has truly become a race against time in the days following last week’s deadly earthquake. The television news crew that first found the orphanage and the children safe has promised to supply them with water and supplies as long as they were on the ground, but how much longer that will be is uncertain.

All three families have been working with Iowa’s members of the U.S. House and Senate to secure safe passage into the U.S. for the children. Five of the Haitian orphans are already in the process of being adopted, but hopes are to have all nine of the children brought to Pella.
