A lot is on the line tonight as Knoxville and Pella play for first place in the Little Hawkeye Conference girls basketball race. Knoxville comes in at 9-0, while Pella is 6-1 overall. Both teams are 5-0 in LHC play.

Knoxville Coach Jim Uitermarkt says Pella is a team with many weapons that can score from anywhere on the floor. He adds that both teams have outstanding defenses, so points will be at a premium.

Pella Coach Jared Garland knows his team is in for a battle tonight and hopes his team’s depth can carry them to a win.

In the second part of the doubleheader, the Knoxville boys will try to make the start of the 2010 portion of the season better than 2009 was. However, to do that the Panthers will have to knock off Little Hawkeye Conference co-leader Pella. Coach Brad McWilliams says Pella does so many things well.

Pella Coach Mark Core says he has a lot of respect for how much Knoxville has improved this season and says it’s not going to be just an easy win. He adds that he hopes his guys don’t let Knoxville’s record fool them, because it does not reflect how well the Panthers can play.

You can hear the play-by-play of both the girls and boys games on AM 1320 KNIA with Derek Cardwell or 92.1 FM KRLS with Jamie Brockman starting with pregame coverage at 6pm tonight. Both broadcasts will also be streamed live on kniakrls.com.
