Pella Wrestlers go 1-1 in Home Triangular Thursday

The Pella wrestlers beat Saydel and fell to Newton in a home triangular last night. Pella beat Saydel 59-23 and fell to Newton in a LHC match 46-30. Winners for Pella in the Newton duel included Kyle Langstraat at 112, and Austin Lafollette at 119 who each received forefits, while Brent Smith at 135, Lane Whitaker at 160 and A.J. Arendahl at 189 each won by pin. Winners in the Saydel duel included David Wylie at 103. A.J Arendahl at 189, Wes Hoksbergen at 215 and Houston Naakpeboren at heavyweight who each won by forefit, Kyle Langstraat at 112, Brent Smith at 135, Jesse Blauw at 152, Lane Whitaker at 160, and Zac Stough at 171 all won by pin and Josh Ravestein at 140 won by technical fall. A major highlight of the night came when senior Brent Smith picked up his 100th career victory. Smith who qualified for state as a freshman upped his season record to 19-3. Pella travels to the Williamsburg tournament Saturday.
