An Early Retirement Package Bill has been signed by Iowa Governor Chet Culver after the bill passed the Legislature earlier this session. State Representative Jim Van Engelenhoven of Pella says the piece of legislation is intended to help trim state expenses by offering retirement incentives to some of the state’s longer-tenured and higher-salaried workers and says it will be “part of the puzzle” in balancing Iowa’s budget.
