An update on Tuesday’s temporary, precautionary lock down of PCM schools. When authorities learned that there was a domestic situation that involved a weapon, the PCM administration locked down the school as a precautionary measure.

There was never a direct threat on the school or its students. Sheriff Mike Balmer tells KNIA KRLS news that school officials acted in an appropriate manner in initiating the lockdown.   According to Marion County Sheriff Ron Goemaat, the incident then moved into Marion County. The Pella Police Department notified the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to be on the look out for a man by the name of William Robert Gallaher in regards to a welfare check. At approximately 1:22pm Marion County Sheriff’s deputies located Mr. Gallaher in the Elk Rock boat ramp area.

The subject was found deceased of a self inflicted gunshot wound. Knoxville City Rescue and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources also responded to the incident.
