The rivalry between the Pella girls basketball team and Ballard continues tonight when the Bombers and Little Dutch meet in Saydel with hopes of a return to the State Tournament in Des Moines. Pella is coming off of a 50-25 dismantling of Bondurant-Farrar, while Ballard downed Nevada 38-20 in their Regional Semifinal. Little Dutch Head Coach Jerod Garland says the Bombers have a well-rounded team, but it’s impossible to overlook 6’2” stand-out Taylor Greenfield.

“She plays a lot of perimeter on the offense. She can step back and hit the three, she can drive and dish, and she’s an excellent offensive player,” says Garland. “She poses a lot of problems, but as soon as you give too much attention to her, then someone else will be open, and you can’t really key too much on one player. Still, Greenfield is the straw that stirs the drink for them.”

Garland calls Greenfield “one of the top three players in the state.” You can hear live coverage of tonight’s Class 3-A Region 3 Championship on 92.1 fm KRLS with Eric Gotschall and Randy Sikkema in Saydel for the broadcast. Coverage begins at 6:35 p.m with tip-off between Pella and Ballard set for 7:00 p.m.
