Iowa winters are notorious for the damage they inflict upon the state’s roadways, but this year may be even worse than normal. Pella Public Works Director Denny Buyert says the number of winter weather events and numerous freeze/thaw cycles have created a large amount of potholes and rough spots on Pella’s streets. Buyert says North Main Street, which is about to be re-done, is now a prime example of a street at the end of its life cycle. Even though many residents are looking forward to warmer weather, Buyert says the first significant thaw of the spring will likely lead to many more potholes throughout Pella.
