The Central College softball team concluded a week of play in Florida with a pair of convincing wins yesterday. The Dutch dropped Keene State (New Hampshire) 5-1 in the first game of the day, and followed that up with a 15-5 six-inning blowout over Bethel (Minnesota).
Central had a combined 18 hits in the two games, and freshman hurler Rhianna Fleetwood pitched just over eight innings between the two games, allowing just six total hits by the opposition and improving her record to 4-2 this season. Kiley Lythberg earned the win in the game against Bethel to improve to 6-1. Offensively, an all-around team effort in both games by the Dutch was highlighted by right fielder Laura Braun, who went 3-for-3 against Keene State with two runs scored and an RBI.
The 15th-ranked Central College softball team secured six wins in their action at Clermont, and now travel to St. Louis, Missouri for the final stretch of their spring break trip. However, cold and wet weather moving in will adjust the schedule for the games at Washington University, so a final schedule for the Dutch has yet to be determined.
