Marion County has taken the initial steps to acquire a new building to hold county public health offices. The county has signed a contract stating that they plan to purchase the old Farm and Home building in Knoxville to house the Environmental Health and Public Health offices. The purpose is to give these departments more space and consolidate all health related offices into one area. At this week’s Board of Supervisors special session, Auditor Jake Grandia stated that there is a legal process the county must go through but they hope to close on the building by the end of April.

A public hearing to discuss the move will be set at the next Marion County Board of Supervisors meeting, scheduled for Monday at 9:30am in the Marion County Courthouse.
