Thanks to the support and efforts of the Pella Amateur Radio Club, students in the Pella area will begin working toward a very unique opportunity in the future. Members of the Pella School Board were presented with information on the Edge of Space science project at this past week’s meeting, which would involve the use of amateur radio equipment to track and monitor experiments on a large balloon that would be launched into the atmosphere as high as eighty to one hundred thousand feet above the earth’s surface. Pella Schools Superintendent Mark Wittmer says its a very exciting opportunity for students at both Pella and Pella Christian schools. The project would be the first of its kind in Iowa.
