A pair of former co-workers from the Pella Excit-A-Bowl bowling center joined forces to move into the lead of the 2010 United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Open Championships. Mark Klyn of Pella and Scott Werner, formerly of Pella and now of Overland Park, Kansas, teamed up to take part in the Classified Doubles division, and combined for a score of 1,145 on Saturday at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nevada.

Their score toppled the previous mark of 1,098. Werner rolled a 613 series, with games of 186, 208 and 219; while Klyn totaled a 532 series with scores of 227, 176 and 129. Klyn and Werner will now monitor their score to see if it holds up for the duration of the 136-day event, which concludes on July 5th.
