Habitat for Humanity of Marion County is planning a special event for later this year to commemorate a significant milestone for the organization. This fall the volunteer organization will construct its 30th home and Executive Director Lisa Houser says plans are in the works to make build number thirty a special one.

“We’re very excited about that, and we’re going to have a celebration,” says Houser. “We’re going to call it [the] ‘Thirty for Thirty’ celebration – we’re going to try and seek thirty local sponsors to help build this house and also raise the funds for this house.”

Habitat for Humanity of Marion County built three houses in 2009, most recently completing a home in Pella. Houser says more information on the “30 for 30” event will be finalized over the next few months.
