Several proposed pieces of labor legislation may fall by the wayside this session as a result of a lack of activity on the debate floor. State Representative Jim Van Engelenhoven says only a piece of legislation on an employee’s choice of doctor made it out of an Iowa House committee. That would mean that controversial bills on “fair share” and Iowa’s “right to work” laws may go another session without approval. Van Engelenhoven says the only way the bills would stay open for debate is if they had companion bills in the Senate or if party leaders re-introduce them.
