Marion County is getting prepared for possible flooding this spring. Emergency Management Coordinator, Jeff Anderson and Steve McCombs from the Engineers Office spoke with the Board of Supervisors at their special session last week to discuss how to prepare for the possibility of flooding in the county. Anderson says county Emergency Management departments can obtain sandbags from the state free of charge, in order to protect critical infrastructure such as levies, sewage treatment centers, and other operations that provide services to the public. Anderson says these sandbags cannot be handed out to protect private property. Therefore, the Board of Supervisors and emergency management are working together to put together a system to make sandbags available for property owners.
