For small schools like Melcher-Dallas where numbers aren’t as big, track and field coaches have to be creative to fill all of their events. Coach Jim Crozier says with 20 girls out this season he can put every girl in two events and have a chance to score enough to not only be in contention for the conference title but to get some girls in an event that they can get to the state meet as well. He says field events are the hardest to fill. The Saints will send a few girls to the Dickinson Relays in Cedar Falls this week and Crozier says that will give him a better idea of where to slot girls into events. The first outdoor meet for the Saints is April first when they travel to Albia.
