Following a public hearing, the Pella City Council approved the submitted $16.68 million city budget for the fiscal year 2010-2011 at Tuesday night’s meeting. The total budget is a 1.81 percent reduction from the previous year and includes no change in property taxes. Highlight items of the budget include funds for major city infrastructure projects, namely road repair, repair and renovation of the city’s water and wastewater systems, and repairs to Pella’s indoor and outdoor pool.

In other business, the Pella City Council approved an amendment to the Pella Business Corridor Urban Renewal Plan concerning city right-of-ways along various streets, and approved the closing of public streets in May for the “Klompen Classic” running event during Tulip Time, among other issues.
