It’s been a bit of a slow start to the Pella girls track pre season due to snow cover, state basketball and spring break but in the limited practice time they’ve had, head coach Dak Rasmussen feels good about what they have to work with this Spring.

In past years the Pella girls have excelled in distance and middle distance events and Rasmussen says they look to be strong in those areas again this year. He says with some strong sophomore runners as well as some experienced juniors and seniors they have alot of depth in the distance events.

Rasmussen says the sprint events and relays take a little longer to develop than the distance events but he thinks they have some good runners to fill those events as well.

With the graduation of both Brooke Gritters and Becky Nunnikhoven that will leave a big void in the throwing events where they’ve been able to score big points the last three years. The Pella girls will compete for the first time this season indoors at Central College Saturday.
