Iowa lawmakers approved a bill this past week aimed at streamlining and re-organizing state government.  State Representative Jim Van Engelenhoven of Pella says many lawmakers were somewhat disappointed at the estimated $72 million that the bill is expected to save the state, as original estimates had the bill accounting for at least $120 million that would be trimmed from the state’s budget.  Van Engelenhoven is a Republican and represents District 71 in the Iowa House, which includes the majority of Marion County and the Monroe area.
