The Marion County Board of Supervisors approved the sale and issuance of general obligation refunding bonds for the courthouse improvement bonds from 2003 at their meeting yesterda morning. 5 bids were submitted by this morning’s 9:30am deadline and the winning bid came from Bankers Bank from Urbandale at 2.35%. John Burmeister from Public Financial Management, who helped with the process, says he was pleased with the results and number of bids received. Burmeister predicts that Bankers Bank will work with a local area bank on the refunding bonds and the county should save a significant amount of money by refinancing.
