The Hospice of Pella will begin hosting training classes for volunteers next week. The courses are required to be a volunteer at Hospice of Pella, and are taught by experienced hospice staff members and experts in other disciplines. The class is also an opportunity to learn more about hospice care and is helpful for those wanting to learn more about being a caregiver and those interested in finding out more about grief and bereavement.

Volunteers at Hospice of Pella serve many functions, from working in the office to providing companionship to patients and assisting with day-to-day needs. Beth Loux, Hospice Volunteer Coordinator at Pella Regional Health Center, says volunteers are a valued asset at Hospice of Pella, and often find the experience personally gratifying and emotionally meaningful to assist those in need at the end of a life.

The Hospice Volunteer Training classes will be held on Tuesdays from 9:00 to 11:45 a.m. at the Comfort House in Pella from March 23rd to April 27th. To sign up or for more information, call 620-5054.
