he state of Iowa will implement central issuance for their photo identifications Monday. According to Marion County Treasurer Denise Emal the purpose of the change is to add new security features to the licenses that will help protect against fraud. The change will also decrease expenses for equipment by only having to maintain one machine in Des Moines versus one in each of Iowa’s 99 counties. This means that when Iowans go to get a new license they will receive a temporary paper card that will be good for 30 days, and will mailed their new plastic license in the mail within 7 to 10 days.
