Knoxville’s East Elementary Principal Mike Montgomery received a report of a student with an authentic looking rifle near school property at approximately 7:50am this morning. It was reported that the student was on property across the street from the school pointing a gun at students as they arrived. Montgomery contacted the Knoxville Police Department and he and an officer went to the student’s residence. After evaluating the situation it was determined that the weapon was a soft pellet gun and was not in working condition. School officials stress that at no time was anyone in danger. Montgomery says due to the seriousness of the situation the student has been suspended.
