Marion County went from sunshine and a record breaking high temperature Thursday to a severe thunderstorm Friday afternoon. Thursday’s high was 83 degrees, which is two degrees above the previous record of 81. Late Friday morning, all of Marion County was under a severe thunderstorm warning for about an hour. KNIA/KRLS entered their first Severe Weather Action Team coverage of the season, with help from the National Weather Service, and Weather Eye Meteorologists. In addition, we also had our community action phone lines open for trained storm spotters and Marion County citizens to call in and give us an update from the field. KNIA/KRLS will continue to give you the most up to date severe weather coverage first fast and accurately.
