Pella Christian’s boys golf team opened their season with less than ideal conditions, but still performed well, finishing second at the Norwalk Invitational yesterday. The Eagles shot 339 as a team, four strokes behind Norwalk, which hosted the six-team tournament at the Rolling Hills Golf Course.

Leading the way for Pella Christian was number one golfer Derek Fox, who shot a 79, placing second in the individual standings. Fox started slowly, with a 43 on the front nine, but burned up the back half of the course with a 36. Number two golfer Jon Holwerda placed fourth individually with a score of 81 by shooting 40 on the front nine and 41 on the back nine.

Pella Christian Head Coach Dan Branderhorst said overall he was pleased with the way the team played, despite battling windy and rainy conditions throughout the day. The Varsity squad plays next on April 13th, with another meet at Norwalk.
