With warmer weather already moving in, it’s time to prepare for tourism season in the city of Pella. Jill Vandevoort, Director of the Pella Convention and Visitors Bureau says her organization has been working hard to get ready.

“April is probably our busiest month here at the CVB as we’re following up and doing final details with motor coach tours that we maybe spoke to at trade shows in the past,” said Vandevoort. “As they’re finalizing their itineraries, it’s time for us to help them with their final details as well.”

Vandevoort says the CVB has also been working to keep Pella visible in various publications.

“One thing that we were able to do to add to the festivities this year was to work with travel writers and people that we’ve worked with in the past that have been kind enough to do pieces on our community,” said Vandevoort. “[That] will help keep Pella in the spotlight in different publications.”

Vandevoort adds that with fewer dollars available for tourism-related projects in the state, organizations like the Pella Convention and Visitors Bureau have to find more creative, low-cost ways to promote the community.
