For the Pella girls it was their season opener and they came away with three first place finishes winning the 4×100, 4×800 and distance medley relays. Marielle Gaiser was second in the 400 and they also had a runner up finish in the 4×200.

On the boys side Pella won their third consecutive meet and recorded six first place finishes. Those included Matt “ Bubba” Meyers in the long jump, Zach Wittenberg in the 3200, Brett Bogaard in the 100, Wade Pingel in the 400 hurdles, as well as the 4×200 and medley relays. They also had four second place finishes including the shuttle hurdle, and 4×800 relays as well as Austin King in the 400 and Dan Borgerding in the shotputNext up both the girls and boys will compete at the Panther Relays in Knoxville tomorrow. Girls coach Dak Rasmussen says they always look forward to the Panther Relays and hopes they’ll have success but they will be shorthanded due to Prom being held at Pella tomorrow night. Due to Prom night they will be without most of their leading runners during the afternoon but he says they’ll load up their events the first half of the day and see how they wind up.
