The Pella girls soccer team looks to notch their first win of the season today, as the Little Dutch make the short trip to Oskaloosa. Pella is coming off of a hard-fought loss to Newton on Tuesday, and Head Coach Sam Mate-Kodjo says he hopes to see the team improve defensively.

“I’ve got really good defenders, [but] I think sometimes they forget that they need to play help on defense – cut off angles, make sure the offensive players have fewer options…” said Mate-Kodjo. “In practice I’ve noticed that some of the players would rather play one-on-one, and that’s not how you play defense. ‘Defense’ is team defense.”

The Pella girls square off against the Indians at 5:30 today for the JV/Varsity double-dip in Oskaloosa.
