For the second straight weekend, the Pella girls soccer team faced a No. 1 ranked squad, as the Lady Dutch competed in another challenging Saturday tournament – this time at Nevada. In a tightly contested first game against Class 2-A Ames, Pella was outshot 8-3, but goalkeeper Kelsey Fynaardt recorded five saves in a well-contested 1-0 loss for Pella.

The Lady Dutch played another tight match later in the morning, as Pella downed Class 2-A Des Moines Roosevelt 1-0, with Lindsay Bentzinger scoring the lone goal. Pella held the Rough Riders to no shots on goal in the win.

Finally, Pella would close out the tournament against Class 1-A No. 1 and defending state champion Cedar Rapids Xavier. Despite strong, physical play by Pella and six saves for Fynaardt, the Crusaders were too strong, as they prevailed 4-0.

The Pella girls are now 3-5 overall this season.
