Local business appears to be thriving in Pella, with the addition of six new businesses in the last few weeks as evidence. Karen Eischen, Executive Director of the Pella Chamber of Commerce says the addition of two specialty stores – “Haley’s Glam” and “Wren ‘n the Willow” – along with the “Family Eye Care Center” and “Compass Mortgage” on Franklin Street; and “De Scoop” ice cream shop on Main Street and “The Dog House” sandwich and hotdog shop on Washington Street are all welcome indicators that the local economy is growing.

“It’s always great to see some wonderful compliments to what we already have here [in Pella], and every one of these businesses do that very well,” said Eischen. “It just adds to the overall variety of what people can find here, and that really helps our community draw people here to live and to visit.”

Eischen adds that she is also in the process of trying to bring a new industry to Pella and other businesses have contacted her about downtown.
