The City of Pella will host its annual “Spring Clean-up” this coming week.

“Spring Clean-up week is for our residential garbage customers in the city of Pella,” says Jeanette Vaughan, Administrative Specialist with the Pella Public Works Department. “And what that does is allow households to get rid of some of their bulky waste that they can’t usually put out with their regular garbage.”

She adds that items will be picked up on the same day as residents’ regular garbage pick-up, and says items need to be curbside by 7:00 a.m. on the day they will be collected. Additionally, waste items need to be placed at least four feet away from the garbage tote to allow for easy garbage removal. While most large items will be accepted for the Spring Clean-up, Vaughan says there are some exceptions.

“You want to avoid setting out any appliances or electronics,” says Vaughan. “So no refrigerators, no microwaves, no TVs… we do have some other events coming up that will help you get rid of those items.”

Vaughan encourages anyone with questions to contact the Pella Public Works Department at 628-1601.
