Early spring sunshine and now a heavy dose of April showers means that lush green lawns will be growing quickly, but what is the proper way to maintain your lawn in the spring months? Dale Miller, program director with the Marion County ISU Extension Office says proper mowing begins with checking the correct height for your grass species. Many cool-season grasses should be cut to 2.5 to 3.5 inches. During the spring months, this may mean more frequent cuttings, but how often your lawn is mowed and the height of the grass should be adjusted during dryer summer months.
