The Marion County Board of Supervisors met in a special session Monday to get updates from county department heads and elected officials. Kim Dorn from Public Health talked about a Whooping Cough outbreak in Knoxville and said her department is working on solving the problem and said she continues to work with Snyder and Associates on building plans for the new county health building.

Cory Frank from Environmental Health mentioned opening dumping being an issue in the county and said he will be increasing enforcement.

Missy Poffenbarger from the Zoning Department said there are several unlicensed vehicles in the county and they are working toward compliance and also discussed property classifications for agriculture land and rural residential land.

Betty Moll from the Mental Health Department brought up concerns with the consolidation of services at the Department of Human Services and said she is looking into the possibility of working with RX Outreach Pharmacy from St. Louis, MO to supply prescriptions for her clients. Currently she works with HyVee Pharmacy but says not all prescriptions come at a reasonable price.

Finally, Michael Kuhn from Veterans Affairs and General Assistance said things are going fine overall, yet he is concerned about the increase in unemployment in the county and wants changes to the restrictions on what state funds can be used for in his department.
