One person was transported to Pella Regional Health Center following a single vehicle accident west of Pella Monday morning.  The accident happened near mile marker 37 on Highway 163 at approximately 7:49 a.m.  According to the Iowa State Patrol, the driver of a westbound vehicle left the traveled portion of the roadway, crossed the median, and then crossed both eastbound lanes of traffic, coming to a rest in a cluster of small trees in a ditch.

The driver sustained only minor, non life-threatening injuries, and an existing medical condition may have caused the accident.  Also responding to the scene were the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Pella Ambulance, Pella Police Department, and Pella Rural Fire Department.
