The city of Knoxville began issuing tickets this week for parking violations around the square. The City Council recommended that the city increase enforcement of the parking ordinances downtown after receiving complaints from area businesses. Community Service Officer Arlene Worrall says warning notes were left on vehicles who violated the ordinance last week and as of this week she is now issuing tickets to those who do not comply. Overall, Worrall says things are going well and she has issued half as many parking tickets daily as she had in the past. Worrall says she believes this is because of increased information and awareness in the community.
