The Pella boys and girls swept the team titles at the Little Dutch Relays at Pella High School last night. On the boys side Knoxville finished second 43 points behind Pella and Pella Christian was third, on the girls side Pella also was 43 points better than second place Grinnell, Pella Christian finished fifth and Knoxville was sixth.
The Pella girls won nine events including Nadine Van Zomeren in the 200, Maddy Davis in the 400, Megan Current in the 100 hurdles, Marielle Gaiser in the 400 hurdles, as well as their 4×200, 4×400, 4×800. Sprint Medley and Shuttle Hurdle relays. Pella Christian got a win from Sarah Brandsen in the 3000 and the Knoxville girls highest finish was Katie Ayers who was second in the discus.
On the boys side Pella and Knoxville each won six events while Pella Christian won just one but had numerous second place finishes. For Pella, Brett Bogaard won the 100 and 200, Zach Wittenberg won both the 1600 and 3200, Matt Meyers claimed the long jump and their 4×400 relay took first place.
Knoxville got wins from Harlan Sytsma in the 400, Alex Edwards in the 800. Luke Moore in the high jump, Ty Dunkin in the shotput, as well as their 4×200 and sprint medley relays.
Pella Christian’s lone win came from their 4×800 relay team but they claimed five second place finishes including Chase Carlson in the 100, Zach Vos in the 400, Josh Meyer in the 1600 and their 4×100 and sprint medley relays.
